How much is farewell.ride entry fee?
Farewell.ride has a 120€ entry fee.
What is included in the entry fee?
Every farewell.rider will get a GPS tracker, a cap, a gpx. file with the route, finisher t-shirt and a cold beer or a non-alcoholic beverage if they manage to get in the finish line within the time limit. There is no prize money!
What is the official time limit for the event?
We want to make more than just another race, so there will be a get together lunch party on Sunday 19th at 1PM, but the official cut-off time is at 7PM. That’s when the clock’s stop for all the riders.
What are the rules of the event?
Riders must be fully self-supported.
Riders must follow the local laws at any time.
When riding in the darkness riders are obliged to wear a reflective vest and always use at least one front light and at least one red tail light.
How many people can ride together?
Farewell.ride is an unsupported bikepacking adventure. Riders can register in solo category and also in pairs. No matter the category participants can ride in pairs and even in groups. We do like when the friendships are created during the ultras. The maximum distance riding together in solo category is 20% of the route length though.
Do I need to plan my route?
There is no need to plan your route. The route has been scouted several times and will be sent to all registered participants 1 week before the event in the .gpx format along with the Road Book.
What is the best way to get to a start with my bike?
The race starts on the Czech Republic - Germany border in Zelezna Ruda na Sumave|Bayerische Eisenstein, so the easiest way to get to a start is by a car or a train.
There is a daily morning direct train from Praha Smíchov departing at 5:45.
If you are travelling from Germany, you can get to us under 3hours from Munich with only one transfer in Plattling.
Riders coming from Vienna, Austria can make it to a start under 4 hours with one transfer also in Plattling.
How do I organize my accomodation before/during/after the event?
Farewell.ride is an unsupported adventure. You’ll therefore need to arrange your stays before, during, and after the event by yourself. The Road Book will provide more info about this once you register.
Is this a road bike event?
Indeed it is. It’s the unofficial farewell with roadbike season, so 96% is on the road and about 4% is on unpaved gravel. If you're careful enough, you should be fine with any tires over 28mm.
Who is the event organizer?
The organizer of the event is passionate amateur ultracyclist Jakub Kopecký, photographer of bikepacking races such as the Three Peaks Bike Race, Badlands 2021 and many others.
